STARLINK links all of the community and technical colleges in the state through its statewide teleconference network. STARLINK is formally governed by TACC through a contractual arrangement with the Dallas County Community College District. Rick Walker, Dallas County Community College, serves as the Director of STARLINK. As an agency of TACC, STARLINK produces and distributes programming to benefit higher education, state agencies, and other public entities.
Since becoming operational in the fall of 1989, STARLINK has been the recipient of numerous national and regional awards along with being rated one of the top training networks in the United States. STARLINK has produced and distributed 285 professional development and informational videoconferences targeted primarily to community and technical colleges, reaching more than 400,000 audience members. Its online library features 150 hours of professional development available to faculty on-demand.
