o 29-percent of the state's community college students received need-based financial aid from federal and state programs; 134,741 community college students received $354.2 million in FY 2001.

o In addition, over $30 million raised locally each year by college districts for scholarships and student assistance. 7,836 students received $10.9 million through Federal Work Study programs and 25,633 students borrowed $70.1 million through Guaranteed Student Loans.
